Freedom is

I've seen many adaptations of Throwback Thursday on Facebook. Pictures and such thrown on the connection service to draw us back to a different time. In other words, old pictures.

Today I'm starting (in the small inner circle of readers admittedly, and those who never share this piece of work to make it even bigger on the great big ol' Net) what I'm calling Freedom Friday. What I'm saying is that we should all be on our knees thanking God for the freedom He's given us, in Christ.

The Bible says thisBecause of the sacrifice of the Messiah, his blood poured out on the altar of the Cross, we’re a free people—free of penalties and punishments chalked up by all our misdeeds. And not just barely free, either. Abundantly free! He thought of everything, provided for everything we could possibly need, letting us in on the plans he took such delight in making. He set it all out before us in Christ, a long-range plan in which everything would be brought together and summed up in him, everything in deepest heaven, everything on planet earth.
Ephesians 1:9-10 MSG

We are a free people, free of stuff, free of pain, free of fear. Free. Free to worship in Spirit and in truth. Free to give. Free to be given Grace that we can't, still, comprehend.

We can argue till we're blue in the face (and states) and red in the eyes (and states), but that won't take away the fact that the Messiah came and allowed his blood to be poured out on the altar of the Cross.

It matters not whether you believe it. It happened. All we have to do is accept it, and we become persons who have been given this freedom.

That's the biggest idea, concept that no one who won't surrender can grasp. He died for you. For us. For all of us. For Muslims who believe another way, for atheists who refuse to believe at all, for run-of-the-mill believers and for those who are such fundamentalists they won't give the same freedom to others that the Lord gave them.

Free. Free indeed. Free to believe and free to not believe. Free to love and free to be loved. Free.

Today, bend a knee and accept the freedom to not bend the knee. Believe and be set free. Today. Not a minute longer. Jesus is the way, the truth, the life and the freedom.
