The war rages on

The Republican convention promises to be a knock-down, drag-out war. Riots? No. Rules war? Yes.

But that has nothing on what we fight on a daily basis. The Bible says this, "And that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels. Ephesians 6: 10-11

What weapons could we possibly have that would work in a supernatural battle?

Let's try a few on for size.

We have the Word of God to stand on, learning from it daily, seeking wisdom daily, turning to it in the best and the worst of times. We have prayer that works in the worst of moments.
We have the Holy Spirit living in us; the living, breathing, power of God Almighty.

So, what were you saying Devil?

The Apostle Paul gives us another way to look at these things. He wrote later in Ephesians 6, "Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

The first two pieces of armor are the belt of truth and breastplate of righteousness. The truth of God's Word is the first defense in combating the lies of the enemy. Righteousness and character are the means to justice and victory.

The armor of God also includes having our feet fitted with the Gospel of Peace. Believing the good news of the gospel and sharing it with others is kinda the deal. It allows us to stand up to the very cunning ways of the Devil himself, ol' horny. Then there is the shield of faith. Without faith, the armor is useless. Then we have victory through the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

Look, every Christian is equipped with the armor of God. We each have the Bible, the truth, the Gospel, our faith and salvation within our reach to use and share.

I guarantee any reader that the war still is raging around us, and instead of losing, giving up, falling to temptation as many of us do so often, we each must take advantage of the tools of the supernatural war the Lord has given us.
